Configure VAS Activity in SAP EWM
This blog will discuss the configuration for VAS Activity in SAP EWM.
VAS Activity
1. Define Number Ranges for Value Added Services Order
Step 1: Enter the Warehouse Number, Click on Intervals
2. Activate Order Document Management for VAS
In this IMG activity, you can activate all the required order data areas, order data types, and order document management (ODM) components for value-added services (VAS). Here, only objects of order document management that VAS also uses are considered.
Activities
Execute this IMG activity to activate (or convert) ODM settings after installation and after every Customizing transport (that includes ODM settings) in the destination system.
You can perform this IMG activity multiple times in succession since objects that have already been activated are ignored when the activity is executed again.
Note
Note that this IMG activity may take several minutes to be executed.
If necessary, you can activate the objects of ODM individually with the following transactions:
ODM: Activate Order Document Types and Dependent Objects (/SCMB/ODM_ACT_ORTYPE)
ODM: Activate Component (/SCMB/ODM_ACT_ORC)
ODM: Activate Order Data Type (/SCMB/ODM_ACT_ORDTP)
ODM: Activate Order Data Area (/SCMB/ODM_ACT_ORDA)
If there are errors during activation, you can generate the ABAP Dictionary objects of ODM individually with the following transactions:
ODM: Generate Component (/SCMB/ODM_GEN_ORC)
ODM: Generate Order Data Type (/SCMB/ODM_GEN_ORDTP)
ODM: Generate Order Data Area (/SCMB/ODM_GEN_ORDA)
The system takes only the inactive settings into account at generation. The ABAP Dictionary objects of the active order component, the active order data area, and the active order data type are not changed.
During the generation, the system monitors the inactive settings and, if necessary, generates ABAP Dictionary objects (structures and tables).
You have to run activation again once the generation has been completed successfully
Step 1: Click on Log Output as list, and Execute
3. Define Product Group Types
In this IMG activity, you define product group types. You can then assign values to these under Define Product Groups.
Product group types and product groups serve to group products of the same kind. You define a product group type for the criterion with which the product groups are to be formed.
You can assign product group types, which you have defined here, to a product in the product master on the Properties 2 tab page.
You can also set the following indicators for a product group type:
Activities
1. Enter a two-character code and a description for the product group type.
2. Assign a number to the product group type.
3. Save your input.
Example
You want to group products according to the criterion size. You define a product group type size for this product. You then assign the values small, medium, and large to this product group type.
4. Define Product Group
In this IMG activity, you define the possible product groups for a product group type.
The definition of product groups is a prerequisite for Extended Service Parts Planning (eSPP) processes.
Prerequisites
You have already created product group types in the IMG activity Define Product Group Types.
Activities
1. Enter an existing product group type.
2. Assign one or more values to the product group type.
Example
You have defined a size product group type. You assign the values small, medium, and large to the size product group type.
5. Maintain Product Master
Step 1: Enter Material, Select the radio button, Click on Change,
6. Define Number Range for Packaging Specification
7. Define General Packaging Specification Parameters
8. Define Packaging Specification Group
9. Define Level Type
10. Define Element Type
11. Define Level Set
Step 1: Define Level Set
Step 2: Select level Set, Assign level Type
12. Define Work Step
13. Define Packing Material Type
14. Assign Packing Material type to Element Type
15. Assign Packing Material type to Work Step
16. Define Level Set
17. Assign Level Set to Packaging Specification Group
18. Define Determination Procedure
In this IMG activity, you define the packaging specification procedures. In a packaging specification procedure you define which condition types are taken into account and in which order. When determining the packaging specification, the system automatically determines which procedure is valid for a business transaction and takes into account the determination types contained within, one after the other.
Activities
1. Create a new determination procedure. The namespace for customer-specific entries is A* to Z* and 8*, 9*.
2. Specify an alphanumeric key for the determination type, which can be up to 6 digits long, and a description.
3. Maintain the search sequence of the condition types by specifying the condition types in the required sequence. To do this, select your new determination procedure and choose Procedure Element. You use the level number to define the access sequence.
More Notes
You define which procedure is used for which business transaction in the IMG activities in the relevant application.
19. Define Relevance for VAS
In this IMG activity, you determine the following for Extended Warehouse Management (EWM):
the automatic creation of an order for value-added services (VAS order)
the execution of an existence checks for the packaging specification
You determine the associated context for these entries, such as the warehouse number or document category.
Prerequisites
Document types and item types of the warehouse request must be defined already.
Product groups and product group types must be defined and assigned to the relevant product masters if required.
Standard settings
Default settings are shipped for warehouse number 0001.
Activities
1. Specify a warehouse number and a document category.
You must specify the warehouse number and document category of the warehouse request to determine the automatic VAS order creation and the existence check for the packaging specification. All other fields are optional.
If you want EWM to automatically create VAS orders or execute an existence check for the packaging specification for all inbound deliveries in a warehouse number, specify the warehouse order and the document category only as the context.
2. If you want EWM to create a VAS order or execute an existence check for the packaging specification for specific document types of a warehouse request only, specify a document type .
3. If you want EWM to create a VAS order or execute an existence check for the packaging specification for specific item types of an inbound delivery, specify the associated item type in addition to the warehouse number and document category.
EWM automatically excludes warehouse request items for which automatic creation of VAS orders and the existence check for the packaging specification does not make sense, for example text items. You do not have to take these warehouse request items into consideration here.
4. If EWM is to create a VAS order or execute an existence check for the packaging specification only for specific products in the inbound delivery, first define product groups and product group types in Customizing. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Master Data -> Product -> Product Groups -> Define Product Group Types and Define Product Groups. Then assign the relevant products to this product group in the product master (global data view, tab page 'Properties 2'), and in this IMG activity, specify the product group during determination of the automatic creation of a VAS order or for the execution of an existence check for the packaging specification. You specify the product group type in Customizing for warehouse-number-dependent VAS settings. For more information, see the IMG for Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) under Cross-Process Settings -> Value-Added Services (VAS) -> Warehouse-Number-Dependent VAS Settings.
5. Determine the control for the creation of a VAS order and the existence check for the packaging specification.
a) If required, specify a determination procedure for the packaging specification. In this way, EWM can find a packaging specification automatically.
If you manually create a VAS order and do not specify a packing instruction, EWM tries to automatically find a packing specification. For automatic determination of the packing specification, you must therefore specify a determination procedure as well.
b) Determine the creation of a VAS order.
If you do not create any VAS orders or want to create them manually, choose Do not create automatically.
If you want to create the VAS order automatically during the creation of the warehouse request or warehouse item for the inbound delivery, choose During creation of warehouse request/warehouse request item.
If you only want to create the VAS order during the goods receipt posting of the warehouse request item for the inbound delivery, choose During first goods receipt posting for warehouse request.
c) Determine the existence check for the packaging specification.
If you do not want to execute an existence check for warehouse requests that correspond to the context, such as warehouse number and document category, select Do not execute existence check.
If you want EWM to always execute an existence check for warehouse request items that correspond to the context, choose:
Execute existence check (Warning) If only a warning is to be written to the message of the warehouse request, in the case of a missing packaging specification. The warehouse request item can then still be processed, for example goods receipt can be posted.
Execute existence check (Error) If an error message is to be written to the message of the warehouse request, in the case of a missing packaging specification. The warehouse request item is then set to 'inconsistent' and cannot be processed, for example a goods receipt cannot be posted.
d) Specify a partner role. A warehouse request can contain multiple partners with different partner roles. Here you specify a partner role so that EWM uses the correct partner to determine the packaging specification.
e) Specify a date/time type. The system uses this date/time from the warehouse request to find a valid packaging specification. If no date/time for this date/time type is determined from the warehouse request, the system uses the current date
Step 1: Copy from Standard, Enter Warehouse Number, Document Category, Document Type, Item Type, Product Group
20. Warehouse Number Dependent VAS Settings
In this IMG activity, you define the following for Extended Warehouse Mangement (EWM):
The performing entity that the warehouse number has in value-added service (VAS) processing
The stock type that the system is to propose for the utilities product consumption posting in the VAS order
The product group type that the system is to use for the existence check of the packaging specification
Prerequisites
If you want to use utilities product consumption posting in the VAS order, make sure that you have made the settings in the SAP Menu under Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Assign Storage Bins for VAS Consumption Posting.
Activities
1. Enter the following performing entities:
a) Contract Packagerif, in the VAS, only activities that are defined for the performing entity 'Contract Packager' in the packaging specification are to be available
b) Warehouseif, when creating a VAS order, only activities that are defined for the performing entity 'Warehouse' in the packaging specification are to be available
If you leave the performing entity blank, all packaging specification levels are copied to the VAS order as activities.
2. If you want the system to propose a stock type when creating the required utilities in a VAS order, enter a value in the Standard Stock Type for VAS Utilities field. If you do not want the system to propose a stock type, leave this field empty.
3. If you want to restrict the product groups in the IMG activity Define Relevance for VAS, here you specify the relevant product group type Product Group Type for Determining VAS Packaging Specification.
4. If you want to restrict the product groups in the IMG activity Define Duration of Process Steps, here you specify the relevant product group type Product Group Type for VAS Process Step Duration
Conclusion
Following the above steps, we can configure VAS Settings in SAP EWM.
