Outbound Process in SAP S/4HANA EWM
This blog will discuss the outbound process in SAP S/4HANA EWM.
1. Sales Order & Outbound Delivery
The sales order process can contain various single activities for example;
Presales
Order processing
Availability check
Picking
Packing and shipping
Billing and payment
Sales Document: Every sales activity is associated with a sales document. All business transactions are mapped with specifically configured document types. The assigned status shows the stage in the sales process that a sales order has reached.
Sales and distribution are integrated with other application components in ERP such as production (Material Requirement Planning). Material Management, and Financial Accounting and Controlling.
Document Created during Sales Order Processing: The sold-to-party orders a product and the sales division creates a sales order in SAP CRM or ERP. After processing, an outbound delivery is created. If that outbound delivery is relevant to picking in an EWM-managed warehouse, it is forwarded to SAP EWM.
It may be a sales order, rush order, stock transfer order, or vendor return purchase order.
About the sales document, an outbound delivery was created in the background, in the decentralized EWM environment an outbound delivery request document was created, about the delivery request, outbound delivery created in EWM. About outbound delivery, outbound delivery orders created for picking and packing, loading activities. After completion of all activities goods issues happen EWM messages are triggered in S/4HANA and goods issues and stock levels are updated in S/4HANA as well communication happens for the billing and invoicing step.
In an embedded EWM environment, direct EWM outbound delivery is created. Accept this all activities are the same as decentralized EWM.
2. Outbound Delivery Process flow with Embedded EWM and Embedded TM
About the sales order, an outbound delivery was created in the SAP S/4HANA system, an outbound delivery was distributed in embedded EWM, and same time freight order was created in the embedded TM system, with a fright order, a transportation unit was created which is assigned to outbound delivery. After completion, picking and packing activities, goods loaded to TU, and goods issue completed, and goods issue updated in EWM and also communication happened to S/4HANA and stock level updated in EWM and S/4HANA, and invoicing and billing process triggered in S/4HANA system.
Outbound delivery order (ODO)- you will perform against this ODO for picking, packing, staging, and loading (TU/Vehicle)
Note: Outbound delivery (OD) goods issue: As we issue goods (the stock level gets updated in EWM and S/4HANA. It creates outbound delivery automatically.
OD communicates back to the S/4HANA system for stock updates. (T-code: MMBE, MB52 to check the Stock in the S/4 system.)
3. Goods issue for Production Order
This process allows you to stage products in the staging bay, and post goods issue from the warehouse. The system determines a staging bay using the production supply area (PSA).
The outbound delivery process takes place in the following processes:
Processes in which the destination storage location is not an EWM-managed storage location, but an inventory-managed (MM-IM) storage location. The EWM system executes the staging.
Processes with a two-step stock transfer using two EWM-managed storage locations and two warehouse numbers, such as shuttle processes.
