Value Added Services Configuration in SAP EWM

This blog will discuss about the configuration steps in SAP EWM VAS (Value Added Services)

SAP EWM Value-Added Services

Configuring Value Added Services (VAS) in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) involves several steps. VAS allows you to add value to your products through additional processing, such as assembly, packaging, labeling, and kitting. Below are the key configuration steps:

1. Define VAS Activities

VAS activities are the individual tasks or operations performed as part of the value-added process.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/VASDEF

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Maintain Value-Added Services -> Define VAS Activities

2. Create VAS Orders

VAS orders represent the work orders for value-added services.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/VASORDER

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Maintain Value-Added Services -> Create VAS Orders

3. Define Packaging Specifications

Packaging specifications are used to define how products are packed, including the packaging materials and techniques used.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/PACKSPEC

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Maintain Packaging Specifications -> Create Packaging Specification

4. Define Work Centers

Work centers are the physical locations within the warehouse where VAS activities are performed.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/WORKCENTER

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Work Center -> Maintain Work Center

5. Define Process-Oriented Storage Control

Process-oriented storage control helps define the sequence of warehouse tasks and activities.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/POSC

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Storage Control -> Define Process-Oriented Storage Control

6. Configure Warehouse Process Types

Warehouse process types define the processes in the warehouse, including VAS activities.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/WPT

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Warehouse Process Types -> Maintain Warehouse Process Types

7. Assign VAS Activities to Warehouse Process Types

You need to link VAS activities to the relevant warehouse process types.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/VASDEF

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Maintain Value-Added Services -> Define VAS Activities (Include assignment to warehouse process types)

8. Configure the Packaging Profile

The packaging profile determines how items are packed during the VAS process.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/PPROF

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Packaging Profile -> Maintain Packaging Profile

9. Create and Manage VAS Workflows

Define workflows for VAS activities to ensure smooth execution of value-added services.

  • Transaction: /SCWM/WF

  • Path: SAP Easy Access -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Workflow -> Create and Manage Workflows

10. Test and Validate Configuration

Finally, test the VAS configuration in a controlled environment to ensure that everything is set up correctly.

  • Transaction: Perform various tests using transactions such as /SCWM/RFUI for RF transactions and /SCWM/MON for monitoring.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can effectively configure VAS in SAP EWM to enhance your warehouse operations. If you have specific requirements or scenarios, additional customization may be required.
