SAP Activate relies on the SCRUM agile framework execution of the agile activities. It has the limits in providing guidance for large programs and organizations.
Agile Methodology in Implementation of SAP Project
SAP is looking for the faster and effective method of delivering SAP software to the customers. Agile methodology could be an effective and can be operated in short interactive cycle. This method is based on ‘Lean’ principles of Software development and uses elements from SCRUM as implementation methodology. The SCRUM process is based on development cycle of work which termed as Sprint. Each Sprint has a specified end date and the dates do not get extended whether the task is completed or not. The Sprints are time bound which has a fixed end date.
When going to start each sprint the team selected the high priority task from task list, they do the estimation to achieve the sprint goal with commitment. The team needs to meet on daily bases to review the progress of the task and to take appropriate action to complete the all pending work. At the end of each sprint the team reviews the product and the feedback from the stakeholders as lesson to be implemented in the next sprints. If the task is not completed due to any reason than they are left out and returned as product backlog.
Roles in SCRUM Process
Product owner represents all the stakeholders and customer. He is accountable for maximize the output. Prioritizing the tasks, understanding the product features, identifying the backlogs, and reprioritizing the task list an assuring high Return on Investment (ROI). Product owner is the one in SCRUM team who is responsible for the quality of work done.
The Team is responsible for delivering the product at end to end of each sprint. The team consists of small size not more than 10 with cross functional skills. The team performs all work like Analysis, Designing, Coding, testing and documentation. The team also suggests the product owner the best way to accomplish the sprint commitment.
The scrum master is responsible for managing the scrum project and enforces the rules to meet the sprint commitment. The key role of scrum master is serves the team; project them from outside interface and to help them to focused on to achieve the sprint goal. Scrum master help the team to achieve business values.
The team is known as scrum team.
